PAST NCAA Bracket Challenge WINNERS

HOW DID THEY DO IT?

2008 WINNER - finding details, stay tuned

2007 WINNER - finding details, stay tuned

2006 WINNER - Trevor Davies of Jonestown, PA won the 4th Annual iSportsLinks Bracket Challenge with 45 of 63 games correct. He had 3 of the Final Four and picked Florida to win it all. It was a tough year with the previous 3 contest winners picking 48 of 63. His strategy was:

"The basis of my picks came from what I knew from watching games throughout the regular season and conference tournaments.  I felt the 2-4 seeds could be dangerous, and the one seeds were vulnerable.  That's about it, and as Dicky V would say, OOOOOOOhhhh the Gators were unbelievable baby! "

2005 WINNER - Nick Springer of Marion, Iowa won with 48 of 63, narrowly beating 4 others with 47 correct. A strategy was never received according to my records.

2004 WINNER - Bob Crespy of Kensington, MD won the 2nd Annual iSportsLinks Pickem! His 2nd entry with the strategy of "random, except heavy favorites" has proven to be the best with 48 of 63 games picked correctly. Douglas McIntyre from Green Forest, AR was 2nd with 45 points. iSportsLinks had 6 entries and finished in places 12, 14, 22t, 49t, 49t, and 118 to test different strategies. The strategy for the 118th place was "Gut Feeling" - the moral is then don't trust your Gut, go with your Brain!

2003 WINNER - Congratulations to Loyal Turner of Watseka, IL, the first winner of the iSportsLinks March Madness pickem. Loyal picked 7 of the 8 from the Elite 8 and 3 of the Final Four. Great Job! No strategy submitted!

Thomas Jennings 2nd Place - 47 of 63 games picked in the 2003

This is from Thomas Jennings -I guess if I was to say that I do one thing the same each year I guess that part is true. I make sure that each year I do two things one promise myself to never pick any game for the team I like. I take my heart out of it and go with the one I know from straight game play.

The other thing I do when I sit down and make up my bracket is make sure that when I get to the four teams I think are going to make it to the final four, I make sure that the total for the four teams from there seat is more than 10 and less than 15. This year my final four were Kentucky #1, Kansas #2, Maryland #6, and Syracuse #3. My total this year was 12. A good even number I think. If after I get to the final four when making my bracket, I am not over ten and under fifteen, then back to the drawling board. Usually gets me pretty close each year at the end! There are a million different ways some lean more towards luck some lean more towards skill, I think I am in the middle and stick with closer to consistency. Hope to see you all again next year!
