7 ProbabilityBasketball
|
This is one of the most unique contests around. You give the probability that a certain team will win based as a percentage. Prizes include $4800 for the perfect bracket and other cash prizes. There are prizes for the first 2 round, Sweet 16, and the entire tournament. In their words on scoring:
"The more bold your pick is (moving toward 100% for the favorite), the more points you can gain or lose. If you pick 50% for both teams, or do not make a pick for a game, you will neither gain nor lose points, regardless of the outcome for that game. This unique scoring function ensures that the players most accurately estimating the probabilities (strengths of the teams) in each game will score the most points on average. " For example, should you pick a team as 100% certainty, if they win you get 100 points, but if they lose, you lose 300 points. Not UPDATED for 2007, but they normally open late |
